Why A Lot of People Get Stuck

There’s only one simple reason a lot of people get stuck, or at most, universally accepted. The reason people get stuck is because of fear. This is a natural instinct that everyone of us have as we’re confronted with things we are not familiar, or things that makes us uncomfortable, or just challenges the status quo. The next stage of being stuck or frozen, is to fly away from the problem, and the last resource is to fight the confronting problem. However, most people don’t get to the second stage that is flying from the confronting problem. Instead they simply get stuck at this original stage without further doing anything to get themselves out of that situation. This is the area that is commonly called Procrastination.

For this part I must give credit to Rich Schefren who took the time to analyze procrastination in further detail and was able to dissect the natural defense mechanism humans have. Up until then I only knew that when confronted with danger, we tend to fly and the fight. Which is what psychologists call our natural flight and fight mechanism. But in reality, what happens a lot of times is we get caught in this trap of being frozen as if we are going to get eaten by the huge monster called our problem. Some people tend to stay in that frozen stage for years without resolving to do anything and simply thinking that the problem will go away. Well, bad news. The problem you are facing won’t go away unless you confront it. Yes, in order to tackle whatever is bothering you in life, you just got to confront it face to face. Naturally you will fight and find a way to create a solution but nothing will happen if you just ignore it or you stay frozen.

That’s why every single personal development program calls for taking a course of action. No matter how small or insignificant, you need to acknowledge that you have a problem and that you are willing to resolve it. In a lot of cases, these problems tend to be postponed when we make crazy excuses and lie to ourselves that we will take action after we first resolve something so insignificant that keeps us busy and occupied and sucks us into a vacuum of lies. You will notice this with people who think that everything is an emergency, who think that everybody needs them so badly that they must put everything aside to go take care of whatever it is. No, stop lying to yourself. You don’t live in a state of emergency, nobody needs you every single minute of your life to be next to them. Even your daughter, or son, or parents need their own time and space so that they can have it for themselves. It’s not true, and you’ve been lying all your life that you have not taken care of the things you are supposed to take care because this and that person needs you. This is the fake reality you have made yourself believe. So stop it and take corrective action to get rid of the problem you have had for years. This is where getting enrolled in a program that will promote your physical movement comes very handy. Why? Well because I simply feel that moving yourself will allow you to breathe and think better, it will let your fixed body have flow and let the energy flow.

Feeling stuck a lot of times has to do with not moving your body. The mere expression of feeling stuck, if you were to picture it in your mind has that meaning. It means someone who doesn’t move at all because he/she is stuck. So, by moving around and engaging your body in an exercise program, or subscribing to the gym will really help you get out of your current situation. The times I have felt more stuck is when I have stopped going to the gym. Whenever I want an answer to a problem, I just pack my stuff and go to the gym, and start running. Ideas start flowing into my brain, I start breathing, my blood gets the oxygen and I come out of the gym with a whole bunch of crazy ideas. It gets me excited to know I have overcome a situation that looked so impossible to overcome. I really see exercising as a way to bring more ideas and make my blood flow and carry the oxygen to my brain so I can think more clearly. So, if you feel stuck, first thing I will recommend you to do is to go hit the gym, just pack your stuff and go. Don’t make a 100-step list of what needs to get done to go to the gym because you will never go and will feel even more stuck. If you can’t do something so simple like packing and going, then your case is really serious.

Now, if you’re scared to go to the gym because you look overweight or your hair doesn’t look right, or your face looks crappy. Just go, as you’re driving your face will light up, your hair will fix itself, and once you get to the gym you will be ready to rock. But you gotta take the first step. So, at the gym, don’t pay attention to what other people are doing or how fabulous other people look. Just play your game, you are there for a different purpose, you are there to solve your inner conflicting problems, you are there to break out of an old habit. Yes, the habit of staying home and eating like a pig. Yes, the habit of watching all the crappy tv programs. That’s why I have cut my cable, I only have a little box called Rocku. And Rocku is really amazing because it lets me choose the stuff I really want to see, whether I want to catch a movie or just watch an episode of whatever program I want to watch. Having the regular cable box got me home stuck because these folks running the tv shows know how to get you hooked into watching all the programming so they can sell you all those ads. There’s a team back there making one program be more interesting than the next one and they know how to hit you and seduce you to watch more and consume more. If I watch Hulu, I only get 2 short commercials of 10 seconds each, and I get to pick what to watch and what not to watch. So I’m in control of what I do and what I watch. I make a decision in an instant, and leave in an instant. Fast, fast, fast. I don’t get glued to this crappy tv. I’ll rather spend the time with my daughter and wife, or read a book, or just go out and exercise. Please cut your cable tv and stick to a little box. The smaller the box the bigger your control of your life, the more you can experience out of your life.

Takes 3 seconds to make a decision and hit the road and get to the gym. Don’t make it harder than it is, and don’t make it like it is going to be a catastrophic event. So that’s my first biggest recommendation. As you move, you will now feel free and able to think better and lay out your options for whatever is annoying the heck out of you. Hey, you can also use a punching bag in the gym and personify your problem as the punching bag. Beat the heck out of the punching bag, kick the damn out of the punching, in your mind visualize it as your problem being defeated. This will really get you more empowered to confront your problems and get yourself out of feeling stuck. You can talk to the punching bag if you want, and you can call it whatever names you want to call it. I will let you be creative here. Yes, you can curse the hell out of the bag. It’s an exercise that psychologists recommend, so this is scientifically proven in overcoming frustrations or problems you had in your childhood. Because you know what you have unconsciously created in your brain? You have conditioned yourself to believe that the problem is bigger than you. Yes, you have told yourself over and over again, I don’t want to move because if I move this problem which is bigger than me is gonna eat me. By you moving, and hitting the punching bag and personifying it as your problem you have taken a huge step.

After all, the problem you have is something your brain has created. It doesn’t exist in reality. Whatever you are going through doesn’t exist. It’s all a product of your brain and your self talk. It’s all a product of you programming yourself with this crappy talk that whatever you are going through is bigger than you. So, it’s not really hard to overcome it. All you have to do is interrupt your thought pattern by doing activities that will get you unstuck out of that fucking seat. That’s why people get stuck in business and life, because they don’t want to change and they don’t want to change because they have fear that change is going to hurt them. And this happens in every single company all over the world. By the minutes somebody brings a change in the way the company does business. Every body rises in upheaval trying to kill the initiative. They get personal, and they start trying to kill your proposition no matter what. People want to stay comfortable forever, they don’t want to be bothered with new and different. They prefer old and same. But they do favor enjoying the fruits and benefits after it has been proven. They don’t like going through the process because it’s very painful and embarrassing. A lot of people have a problem with their egos and who they have made society believe they are. As a natural recourse they protect themselves by staying in the same place, (or so they think). Nothing remains constant. Everything changes in life, there’s a cycle for everything in life. There’s a process which is always evolving. When you ask people on the streets how they feel they tend to say same o’, same o’. No, things are not same o’ same o’. Things are worst o’, worst o’ if you’re not taking action. Why is it so hard for some people to realize that the fruit of action is the road to progress and to empowerment, and to resourcefulness, and to richness, and to fulfillment?

That’s why a lot of people find it easy to say NO to a proposal than to ask questions as to how that can improve whatever we’re doing. It’s like they carry a protective helmet where they don’t hear anything, and all they say is NO because they don’t understand the benefits of taking action and moving forward. The beauty of thinking, brainstorming, and taking action. It’s so amazingly beautiful. So, why don’t more people engage in the process of thinking, brainstorming, and taking action? In some cases, I feel that people are scared for what’s going to be coming next, some people want to secure their position in society, some people just have no clue why they are even in this world. If this is your case, if you feel scared for what’s going to be next, the best way to overcome it is to visualize how much better things could be in your life, how much freedom you can have, how much more you can create and enjoy of life. I don’t think life was meant to be lived in one dimension of always doing the same set of things forever in your life, because most of the time, it’s something society has decided upon you. If you revise your life, and the things you are currently doing, you will notice that some of them have been dictated by society. Some of them have been dictated by the media, and some of it has been dictated by your religion. If you’re feeling stuck with no juice in your life is because most likely you fit into one of those categories. So, here’s your time to break away, emancipate and embark upon a journey where you live a more fulfilling life. Hope this helps you!
