Resiliency in Work and Life: How To Navigate It | Part I

Everyone seems to be ready for everything at anytime. When we’re alert, things don’t go out of control. When you start feeling that you have control of everything. It’s right at that moment that you stop paying attention. That’s why it’s necessary to always be living in the now. Forgetting all distractions from either the past or the future.

When people stop living in the now, they get disconnected. They do things for the mere sake of doing them. Experiencing and living in the now has become so widely popularized these days that some people take it for granted. But what does it really mean to live in the now? Living in the now means to focus and concentrate on what is most important right now. So you can devote all your cognitive abilities to what you do best. The human mind cannot focus on two things at the same time. Can you be happy and sad at the same time? I can’t, for sure.

So, the questions is how can you learn to navigate resiliency? There are a tons of ways to do them. We’re just going to explore a few today. In order to come back from feeling down, you need to be compelled by a clear vision of your life and your work. It’s hard to come back to a strong state if you have no clear vision of what you want to accomplish in life and work.

Now, how do you develop a clear vision of what you really want in life? It’s easy. Yeah, I know. It takes effort and practice. Yet, you will get better at it the more you practice it. I highly recommend getting a notebook/journal for this exercise. Yes,I said exercise. Nobody builds muscle just listening. You have to get up from your chair and be proactive. Motion creates emotion. Trust me. I’ve lived with feeling depressed since I was 18 until I reached 29 years old. Yes, 11 years in the dark room. It feels great to be alive again. So, just do this simple step of getting a notebook or journal. So you can track your progress, and come back to it from time to time to remind yourself.

Ok, in your notebook/journal, create what you want for your body, your mind, your family, your relationship, and your work to be like. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just go on and write what you want it ideally. What’s your destination. Where do you want to see yourself 5 years from now? To the best of your abilities, be as creative as possible. Remember that your life is built by years, and that your years are built by months, and months by days, and days by hours, and hours by minutes. So, this is minute is your first building block. If you put a brick everyday, you can start building your life, or re-building your life. Take every minute with respect. As it will be the building block of your life. I don’t want to say your future, because according to the Dalai Lama, there’s only the present. In fact it’s true. Think about it. My daughter and I were watching on Netflix about the Dalai Lama, his life and philosophy. If you get a chance, you can still find it on Netflix. If you want to further explore about the notion of the future.

After you create your map of what you want for your body, mind, family, relationship, and work. Now you have a vision. That’s all it is. It’s really easy. Now, it’s written, now it has shape. You can refer to it as many times as you want. Be bold and creative as you want. There are really no limits, other than the limits you put on yourself. If you did this part of the exercise. You’re Cool!

The next part of your vision is knowing your reasons. I will give you one week to come up with your life vision. So we can go onto the next part which is knowing the reasons why you want to achieve them.
