Resiliency in Work and Life: How To Navigate It |Part III

Please make sure you have read part I and part II before getting into Part III. This is the easiest part of the exercise. The how is simply the part where we break down your vision into easy to work parts. If you know how to add, multiply and divide. If you know the number of months in a year, the number of days in a month, and the number of hours in a day. You can do this part. If you don’t. You’ll learn how to do it here as well.

I’m assuming you have already written down your vision for all areas of your life, and the reasons why (rewards). So, we’re going to take weight loss for example. When I set myself to lose 30 lbs in 30 days, I started out with my vision first for the physical area of my life. My vision is to look fit and gorgeous by losing 30 lbs in 90 days, and increasing my muscle strength by 40%. My reasons for doing this were the rewards I was going to get: internal improvement of my digestive, endocrine, and circulation system. Externally, it meant that I was going to feel more energy, more confident, fit in my jeans, and look hot, as well as have emotional strength to tackle any problems.

Now, I achieved my results before 90 days. It took me only 30 days. The reason it took me less time than what I had planned is because I empowered myself with books that will support my new belief. That’s the first thing I needed to do in order to achieve it. Up until that point, I had the belief that I should eat whatever I want because it made me feel good. I don’t need to exercise because that’s just for people who want to show off their muscles. The gym is only for people who care about the material physical part of the world. And I’m a person who believes people should be valued by what they’re worth internally. So, all these beliefs had made me get 30 lbs more of weight, with high blood pressure, no energy, no enthusiasms, feeling depressed and abandoned.

So, in order to create a new belief system, I went out to Barnes and Noble, got my first book from Tony Robbins on Unlimited Power. This book did what 11 years of quiet desperation couldn’t do for me. This totally changed my life and belief system. From a genuine person who really cared for the life of another human being. Taking me step by step about the dangers of unhealthy eating and living. Touching upon the various areas of life, from financial, to physical, to emotional, etc, etc. And yes, this 3 part series of Resiliency in Work and Life, comes from Tony’s teachings and methods. I claim by no means proprietorship, nor ownership of what I’m communicating to you here. Tony is a genius. Thanks to him, I’m able to share with you what he has shared with millions of people. Expressing it in my own way. Yet the essence of the methodology comes from Tony Robbins.

Ok, enough of big Tony. Now, let’s come back and continue with the easy part. So, the next step is to break down what you want to achieve. In my case it was to lose 30 lbs in 90 days. That meant that I will need to lose 10 lbs in 30 days. That meant that I need to lose 0.33 lbs per day. That is to say, 1/3 of a lb per day. I said that’s so easy. I can definitely do it. The same happens when you buy a new car, when the salesman says: hey, it’s only going to cost you $10 more per month. You go: “oh, that’s it?” You’re in for it. Why? Cause it’s so small that you think you can do it. So, remember, always break things down to easy to digest parts. The same thing happens if I tell you: can you eat 50 chickens? Your immediate response will be: no way. Well, you’ve been doing it all your life in the spam of 1 year. Except for the vegans, of course. If you eat one piece of chicken every day, you’ve definitely eaten 50 chickens per year. Now, multiply that by your age. In my case, I think I have eaten 1,850 chickens. Now wonder, I feel like a chicken sometimes when confronted with a big goal.

So, always make sure you break down your results into chunks, easy to swallow. Otherwise you will feel overwhelmed and will freeze. So, taking the changes at a gradual speed is necessary for you to start building momentum. You start jogging, then you’re gonna be running in no time. Here’s one quick tip if you want to get to exercise gradually. If you have never exercised in your life do this. Get on your running gear, and go to the first mailbox and come back. That’s your first building block for anyone who wants to start exercising but doesn’t feel like doing it. We just need to get you off your couch first. Tomorrow morning, put on your gear, and run to the 2nd mailbox. Don’t do more than 2 mailboxes that day. Next day, go to the 3rd mailbox, touch it, and come right back. Do it for the next 30 days. You will start building the energy and the momentum to continue. That’s how I lost 30 lbs in 30 days.
